Weekend Wrap Up: 24th-25th October

B Grade: vs Flowerdale

Our B Grade XI travelled to Flowerdale looking to register their first win for the season. After losing the toss, Pyalong was sent into the field. Although some stubborn top order batting caused some headaches, breakthroughs from Jase Harvey and Kyle Ryan opened the floodgates, as Flowerdale went from 1/75 to be all out for 120.

Our reply with the bat didn’t start too well, with Joe Ryan and Dan Zoch both dismissed without scoring. Jamo Pryor joined gun recruit Pete Campbell as the pair tried to steady the innings. The score reached 2/48 before Pryor fell, soon followed by Campbell, Alex Simpson and CJ Wittig, the score read 6/63 and Pyalong was in deep trouble of coughing up a simple run chase.

Enter Damo and Wilko. The pair showed their experience and steered the Pirate ship home with an unbeaten stand of 58 to finish the game with 10 overs remaining. Damo Zoch led the way, muscling 42 not out.

C Grade: vs Flowerdale

Our C Grade kicked off their season at home against Flowerdale. After losing the toss and fielding, early wickets to Mike Fairweather and Matt Lane had Pyalong on top early. The wickets continued to fall, with only two Flowerdale batsmen reaching double figures as they were bowled out for 83. Mike Fairweather was the main destroyer with the ball, taking 4/15 from his 8 overs.

The run chase began similarly to B Grade’s, losing early wickets to be 3/13. Dennis Reid continued to play his shots nonetheless, blasting a quick 29. Matt Lane and Ross Fairweather steadied the innings as Pyalong cruised home for a 6 wicket win.

Our Under 16s began their season with a clash with Kilmore. After winning the toss and batting, Pyalong’s innings didn’t start off the best after losing co captains Jacko Ruddick and Decca Clarke in the first couple overs. However, Matt Pratt dug in for his team, doing a great job by scoring 13, as did Finn McGee, who top scored with 32. Pyalong 8/88 after 32 overs.

The effort was very good in the field, however Kilmore were a bit too good on the day, finishing the game at 4/106.
